Wood Packing Regulations
With effect from March 2005 all consignments entering the UK will need to comply with the international standard for phytosanitary measures no. 15 (ISPM 15) which sets out guidelines for regulating wood packing material used in international trade.
The aim of these measures is to reduce the risk of introduction and / or spread of quarantine pests associated with wood packaging material.
All shipments packed in or with wood packaging material in the form of packing cases, crates, drums, pallets, load boards, pallet collars and dunnage are affected by this regulation.
Many countries in the world are now compliant with ISPM 15 so these regulations are also applicable for shipments moving from the UK or EU to those countries that are now part of the programme.
